Ultra Violet (U.V) systems provide the highest levels of protection from bacteria in your drinking water or whole house supply. UV does not kill microorganisms like chlorine does, but instead UV inactivates them. In other words, the microorganisms are sterilized. UV light does not produce harmful chemicals in drinking water. It's safe, effective and environmentally friendly.
The Cintropur® brand offers a wide range of devices for Ultraviolet Sterilisation.

As a disinfection method Ultra Violet sterilisation is the preferred technology, environmentally friendly and proven to remove germs, bacteria, viruses, and protozoa. Effective disinfection depends on UV light reaching the target organism, anything that has a shading effect will prevent disinfection. This can occur when there are particles in the water or when the water is opaque to UV light. It is for this reason that UV can only be used if the water is particle free, has a low turbidity (a measure of the cloudiness of water) and high transmittance. Usually pre-treatment such as filtration and or carbon treatment to remove colour will be needed so that the UV system can operate effectively. Ideally the U.V unit should be the final stage of any system.
